frequently asked

  • what is tapcircle?

tapcircle is one living card you keep on your phone. you scan to catch someone, choose what they see, sort people into circles, and pass anyone along — without retyping a thing.

  • do i need an account?

you can catch people and build your card without one. an account (email or sign-in with apple/google) is only needed to sync across devices and back your card up.

  • is tapcircle free?

yes — catching people, circles, and paper cards are free. a future pro plan may add things like unlimited card history, but the core loop stays free.

  • how does the scan work?

open tapcircle, tap scan, and point the camera at the other person's card or qr. tapcircle reads the details and adds them to your card in about two seconds.

  • what can i share with each person?

you choose per person — email, phone, instagram, a note, anything on your card. each person sees only the fields you picked for them, and you can change it any time.

  • what are circles?

circles are how you sort people the way you think about them — work, sf, close friends, investors. a person can be in more than one circle. circles are private to you.

  • can i pass someone along to a friend?

yes. pass along sends a timed share of your card (or a contact's card, with their permission) to someone else. the share expires — nothing lives forever in someone's inbox.

  • does tapcircle see my contacts?

your card and the people you catch are scoped to your account and stored so only you can read them. we don't sell your data and we don't build an advertising graph. see the privacy policy for the full detail.

  • what permissions does tapcircle ask for?

camera (to scan cards and qr), contacts (only if you choose to import your phone's address book), and photos (only to save your card image, or to pick a saved photo to scan). each is optional and you can grant or revoke any time. tapcircle doesn't ask for location — "met at" is a note you type yourself.

  • if i leave a circle, do people lose my details?

no. in a circle other people can join, the fields you shared are a snapshot taken when you joined — members who already have it keep it. leaving stops you appearing as a current member and stops anything further being shared, but it doesn't withdraw what you already gave. the circle's owner can remove you, which does withdraw it from everyone. deleting your account works the same way as leaving.

  • how do i delete my account?

on the contacts screen, tap your avatar in the top corner → account → delete account. deletion is permanent and removes your card, the people you caught, and your own circles. snapshots you shared into circles other people can join stay with those circles — see the privacy policy. you can also request deletion by emailing support@tapcircle.app, or follow the steps at www.tapcircle.app/delete-account.

  • the scan didn't read the card

make sure the card is well lit and fills the frame, and that the camera lens is clean. if it still fails, you can type the details in by hand — tapcircle will still file them on your card.

  • i'm locked out of my account

tap sign-in help on the sign-in screen, or email support@tapcircle.app from the email on your account. we'll never ask for your password or a code over the phone.

troubleshooting

the scan didn't read the card

make sure the card is well lit and fills the frame, and clean the camera lens. if it still fails, type the details in by hand — tapcircle files them on your card either way.

a contact isn't showing the fields i picked

open the person on your card, check the field toggles, and save. they'll see the updated set the next time they look. fields you turn off stop sharing immediately.

a share i sent expired early

shares last for the time you set, then expire on their own. send a fresh share from the person's card if you still want to introduce them.

the app is slow or won't sync

check your connection, then sign out and back in. your card and circles re-sync from your account. if it persists, email support@tapcircle.app.
