account

delete your account.

tapcircle is your account, and you can close it whenever you want. there are two ways to do it — in the app, or by email if you've already removed the app from your phone. either way, deletion is permanent.

option 1 — delete in the app (fastest)

  • open tapcircle. on the contacts screen, tap your avatar in the top corner.
  • scroll to account.
  • tap delete account, then confirm.

your public profile stops resolving straight away and you're signed out on the spot.

option 2 — request deletion by email

if you no longer have the app installed, email support@tapcircle.app from the email address on your account, or tell us the phone number you signed in with, and ask us to delete your account. you can also use the support form. we may ask you to confirm from that address or number so we don't delete the wrong account. we action verified requests within 30 days and email you when it's done.

what gets deleted

  • your card — name, photo, email, phone, social handles, and notes on it.
  • the people you caught, including anything scanned from cards or qr codes.
  • your own circles and the way you organised them.
  • any shares you sent; existing share links stop working.
  • your sign-in (phone number or google identifier) and session.

circles other people can join

these are the one exception, and it's worth reading before you delete. if you joined a circle someone else opened — the kind used at an event — the fields you chose to share with it stay with that circle. we unlink them from your account, but the other members keep what you shared. and if you opened such a circle yourself, it passes to another member instead of being deleted.

we do this because a circle is the only place those connections exist for everyone else in it — deleting it would erase their record of the event, not just yours. if you'd rather your details came out of a particular circle, ask that circle's owner to remove you, or tell us which circle before you delete and we'll sort it out.

what we keep, and for how long

your public profile goes away immediately. we permanently erase your data from our active systems within 30 days, apart from the circle snapshots described above. after that we keep only limited records we're legally required to hold — for example basic transaction or security logs — and support emails you sent us, which we retain for up to 12 months before deleting.

deletion cannot be undone. if you sign up again later with the same phone number or google account, you start with a fresh, empty card.
